James P. Wind, president of the Alban Institute, is a Lutheran clergyman and former program director at Lilly Endowment Inc. His publications include American Congregations, A Letter on Peace and Good Health, and Places of Worship, .

This 2007 Web version of "Constructing Your Congregation's Story" is based on a book published by Augsburg Fortress in 1993. While it addresses the specific questions and challenges that Lutheran congregations face in constructing their stories, the concepts and insights presented here can be readily translated to other denominations.
