The final requirement is to act justly. The requirement of justice moves the command to love beyond our visible family and community. The question "Who is my neighbor?" links our concern for the interpersonal with the transpersonal. The transpersonal realm moves us beyond the local to the global and systemic concerns where peacemaking is most clearly linked with justice.

As we extend our understanding of family, we begin to see the linkages between our local communities and the world. Who grows our coffee, makes our clothes, or profits from our use of oil?
