We have created the context for the work, using:
- the imagery of the three circles of action (personal/ interpersonal/ transpersonal); and
- the four levels of learning (feelings/ story/ community/ ideas).
Let us now look at some specific methods of "peacemaking without division" in the local church.
Our workshops usually began with this framework:
- a brief period of Quaker silence, followed by
- the description of the three circles of action and
- a presentation of the agenda.
Now that you know about the four levels of learning, you may present that framework to participants either at the beginning or the end of your time together. The tools can be used in almost any group format, but here is one possible agenda for a six-hour day:
- Hopes and fears (30 minutes)
- Stories (45 minutes)
BREAK
- Bible study (30 minutes)
- Using denominational statements and resources (45 minutes)
BREAK for lunch and browsing resources
- Conflict management tools (45 to 60 minutes)
- Planning for peace in the parish (45 minutes)
- Worship and dismissal (15 to 30 minutes)
