The Clergy Journal (Periodical)
Inver Grove Heights, MN: Logos Productions Inc..
The Clergy Journal, targeted to professional clergy, is described by its publisher as a "practical guide to church leadership and personal growth."
The journal is published ten times a year, with each issue offering several articles addressing a common theme, such as evangelism or worship. Several standing departments offer additional information concerning church administration and finances, ministry issues, personal issues, and preaching and worship resources (including lectionary prayers and sermons). Other regular features include reviews of books and Web sites, and brief anecdotes from a variety of sources provided for use in sermons.
The August issue is an annual "technology issue" devoted to providing information on new technology supporting the work of the minister, and the May/June issue is an annual planning issue providing sermons, children's talks, and worship helps for every Sunday of the liturgical church year.
A variety of indices are provided periodically as well, such as an index of main articles for the year, an advertiser index, a sermon index, and a writer index.
This magazine would be appreciated by clergy seeking a resource for their ongoing personal and professional development.

How It Was Used: This is one of my regular "must read" periodicals. It is well written, concise, and offers a great deal of information on a variety of topics.
How It Was Helpful: The annual review of church management software helped us pick our CMS package in 2001 (ChurchWindows from Computer Helper, Inc). The monthly financial section has helped with personal issues, like taxes, as well as congregational issues, like stewardship and insurance.
