The Polis Center (Organization)

The Polis Center, located at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), studies urban issues and provides research and information on churches and communities. Though its work with community-based partnerships focuses on issues that are of interest to Indianapolis and other Indiana cities, its work on the role of churches in mid-size cities is relevant to communities in other states as well.

The database of social indicators maintained by the center, and information about community assets and vulnerabilities are particularly useful.

One of several endeavors, the center's Project on Religion and Urban Culture addresses public inquiry, public teaching, and public expression through the monthly Clergy Notes, Research Notes, and video series on religion and communities.
