Spiritual Strategic Journey: Tutorial for Congregational Redevelopment (Web Resource)

George Bullard, director of the Hollifield Center, defines "congregational redevelopment" as a "process by which congregations facing significant challenges seek to engage in a new or renewed spiritual strategic journey leading to congregational transformation." He has written this free on-line tutorial to help you understand congregational redevelopment and use redevelopment resources in creative and effective ways.

Included are interactive tools to help you assess your congregation’s readiness for redevelopment and find the best route for your congregation's spiritual strategic journey. Bullard also invites you to consider an array of redevelopment choices—including the choice to merge with another congregation, to become more community-focused, or even to remain substantially the same. For each choice, he challenges congregations to think about key strategic issues and essential resources.

While the tutorial will stimulate the individual Web visitor, it will prove most useful to leaders who work together for congregational change and transition. Leaders who sense a growing gap between their congregation’s reality and its full potential will find this tutorial particularly helpful.

How It Was Used: There is much confusion about mission, vision, etc. Bullard's Tutorial functions as a third pary coach. We are about 1/2 of the way through the tutorial and my church has found it helpful and inspiring. I wish there was a PDF file available. It would make printing hard copy much easier.

How It Was Helpful: When Bullard asks or says the hard-to-head things. The people done have to react to him or me, but they have to decided what are they going to do about it.
