The Whys and Hows of Money Leadership (Web Resource)
Chicago, IL: Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
If you've felt frustrated by attempts to fund ministry, this seven-session online curriculum is for you. Mark Vincent invites you to examine your own beliefs about money, as well as congregational economics, money and leadership, and money and faith. Interactive assessment tools and links to resource providers are included.
After a brief lesson on how to use the curriculum, Vincent presents seven basic lessons on "money leadership," each with clearly stated objectives: (1) your life with money—telling your story; (2) your life with money—preparing to lead; (3) your beliefs about money; (4) money and faith—applications to households and congregations; (5) congregational economics; (6) the "who" and "how" of money leadership—part 1; and (7) the "who" and "how" of money leadership—part 2. Each lesson begins with an interactive assessment to test what you may or may not already understand. Following this assessment are a presentation on the background of the lesson topic and a series of ideas and reflection questions. Then, each lesson offers its own set of exercises, unique perspectives, and action steps.
Whys and Hows of Money Leadership may be presented in a number of formal and informal settings: as an Internet-based self-study course, through an online chat room, at a leadership retreat, or in a classroom. Congregational leaders seeking a straightforward, understandable, and substantive approach to "faith and money" issues (within and beyond their congregations) will appreciate Vincent's clear and user-friendly curriculum.
