Talking about faith and talking about money can feel sometimes like trying to mix oil and water. There are few topics as important or as difficult for faith communities to talk about (let alone teach or preach about!) Yet much of biblical teaching and Jesus’ ministry addresses money, wealth, and possessions.

Alban consultant Dan Hotchkiss explores faith and money’s sociological, theological, and spiritual perspectives, offering thoughts on why money is so difficult a topic. As part of the exploration, he addresses the differences between money talk and fund-raising.

Suggestions for congregations and an extensive bibliography are included. Links to resources found in the Congregational Resource Guide are also part of this report.
